Notice to members of the Kataastaasang Kapisanan, May 27, 1896

Introduction

 

This document is a summons to a meeting of the Kataastaasang Kapisanan (Supreme Assembly), which comprised the members of the Supreme Council and the presidents (or their nominated deputies) of the KKK’s councils and branches. 

 

Those attending the meeting, which is to be held on Saturday, May 30, 1896, are directed to assemble at five o’clock in the afternoon at the back of the Insular tobacco factory, which was located on the Plaza Calderon de la Barca in Binondo.  They would then make their way to the Pasig River and be directed to two banka (river boats) which would be moored alongside one another and would be ready to be steered out in the darkness somewhere well away from watching eyes.  Each delegate should contribute a peso to the cost.

 

The principal topics for discussion at the meeting were to be:-

 

  • a plan for the “huling pakikipaglaban” (final conflict).

 

  • the organisation of a banquet to thank Japanese residents of the city who had helped the Katipunan.

 

  • the position of “Dimas Ayaran” (Pio Valenzuela) as physician to the KKK.

 

  • the circulation of the KKK’ “Atasan” (orders or regulations).

 

  • the KKK’s printing press.

 

  • ways of improving the effectiveness of the Kataastaasang Kapisanan.

 

The document is signed by six members of the Supreme Council – Andres Bonifacio, Pio Valenzuela, Emilio Jacinto, Vicente Molina, Aguedo del Rosario and Pantaleon Torres – and also by a number of leading activists from the popular councils, including “Tupas” (Quirino Cordero) from Sb. Dalisayan; “Laot” (Isabelo Reyes) from Sb. Dimahipo; “Matunog” (Salustiano Cruz) from Sb. Katagalugan; and “Ilagan” (Rafael Gutierrez) from Sb. Mahiganti.  Against some of the signatures is recorded the fact that they have paid the one peso contribution.

Kataastaasang Sangunian

Sa mga Pinakakatawan sa K.K.

           

            Minamahal na mga Kapatid:

 

Ayon sa lalong ikalalaki ng kaayusan at lakas ng K.K.K., itong K.S., alinsunod sa mga kapangyarihang taglay niya, ay minarapat na sa ikatlong poung araw nitong buang umiiral ay gumawa ang K. Kapisanan ng isang pagpupulong.

 

Sa bagay na ito ay nagpasiya din ng mga sumusunod:

 

Una:  Ang lahat ng mga Pinakakatawan na dito’y dadalo ay dadating sa ikalimang dagok ng bakal sa tanso ng hapon ng nasabing araw sa likoran ng “La Insular”.

 

Ikalawa:  Ang pagpupulong ay gagawin sa dalawang banka na nagkakaagapay at patutungo ng Pasig.  Ang mga bankang ito ay mahahanda sa nauukol napag gamit.

 

Ikatlo:  Ang mga katipon na dito’y dapat dumalo ay aambag ng mamiso, at ang salaping ito ay gagamitin sa paglalagbay at sa mga ibang kakailanging.

 

Ikaapat:  Upang mapagkuro at mapaglining ang boong karampatan ay ipatatalastas sa pasabing ito ang mga kaunaunahang paguusapan, sa pagpupulong, na nasasaysay sa dakong huli nito.

 

Tangapin ninyo mga kapatid ang aming mahigpit na yakap.
